061 Recordings are on the hunt in Limerick city for new raw talent. This Limerick company are giving the opportunity of a lifetime to one lucky musician to display their music across the web. Between the 12th of April to the 12th of May, 061 Recordings facebook messenger is going be open to the public. Aspiring musicians will have the month to send in videos of their songs or work. The musician that grabs 061 Recordings eye within this time period will be awarded with their very own 061 Recordings styled music video filmed in SPICE VINTAGE on the 1st of July 2019. 061 Recordings first act: Aaron Hackett
061 Recordings is a growing project that originated in Limerick. It is a recording company that is ran by a group of nine friends that are passionate about music. I sat down with Éibhlín O’Regan to discuss her involvement within the project. Éibhlín describes 061 Recordings as an “acoustic Youtube channel” that records new Irish artists preforming in Limericks coolest clothing shop, SPICE Vintage. Her role takes many forms as she splits her time between being the co-founder, producer, social media officer and camera person. The idea to create a platform in order to promote Limerick musicians was born in July of 2018. This eventually led to the successful release of 061 Recordings first music video of Aaron Hackett in August 2018. The initial motivation for launching this company came from both the founder, Wojciech Kwiatkowsi, and Éibhlín who aspired to start a project similar to that of ‘Tiny Desk Concert’ for Limerick musicians.

061 Recording is aiming to widen their audience by experimenting with international artists such as Wheatus. This experimental aspect has allowed them to grow from releasing only one artist a month to now having two videos a month. Éibhlín explained how the sourcing of artists has completely changed due to the high demand for videos. She also talked about how their audience has changed since they began, “our target audience was probably people around our own age who are quirky, but who are we to judge?”. The range of different music genres that 061 Recordings has begun to film has attracted a diverse audience from all over Ireland. The original home for 061 Recordings is located at SPICE Vintage Limerick. However, this is also evolving throughout different locations such as The Record Room and Lucky Lane. The artist that is chosen for the 1st of July project will be able to chose a location of their liking for the video (click here for the chance to win).

Éibhlín believes that their competition is seizing an amazing opportunity . Limerick’s talent is growing drastically throughout the country with the help of such production companies. 061 Recordings believe that the only way to make it in the music industry is to have the confidence and to be organised.
